Abort or Abandon?

Posted by bounddragon on 10th May 2007

Japan’s Baby Hatch

Is this a viable alternative to abortion that Christian ministries should begin offering here in America in order to save the lives of unwanted babies?  Or, is it one more way American women can abdicate their responsibility?

Time For Some Action

Posted by Battle Axe on 10th May 2007

First Council of Nicaea (325)In a previous post it was noted that R. Scott Clark declared that since the FV position has grown and spread it is time to act.  Well, I couldn’t agree with him more.  What the Church needs at a time like this is a good old fashioned ecumenical council.

Would this be a difficult feat?  Absolutely.  Would the dispensational fundamentalists be included?  How about the Roman Catholics?  What about the far left protestant denominations?  The answers to these questions would not come easily, but difficulty has never been an acceptable excuse for the Church to shirk her responsibility.

Another foreseeable problem could be logistics.  The Kingdom has expanded greatly since the last council, but if the Church could make it happen in Acts 15 without email, post office, telephones, the internet, airlines and teleconferencing, do we really have an excuse?  Even the language barrier should not stop us – the U.N. overcomes this obstacle all the time!

The harsh reality is that even if we were to organize and carry out such a council the decision of the council will probably be ignored.  I don’t think this should be allowed to stop us either.  We need something to jolt the Church right now.  Our sectarianism has grown out of hand and we need to realize that according to John 17 we either need to declare adherents to other views to be non-Christians or we need to be united.  Period.
