We Want Abstinence

9 Out of 10 Want their Children Abstinent

Question is why?  Because it is God’s Law?  Pfeh…not likely.  Because the Bible is their foundation for morality?  Try again.

“A new survey shows nine out of 10 parents agree being sexually abstinent is best for their child’s health and future and, mostly, believe the message to wait is lost when sex education teaches the use of contraceptives.”

For health and future.  Yeah, that’s a good reason; sounds more like a reason based on evolution (survival of the fittest/healthiest) than it does one based on the Bible.

The Trinity, Government and Iraq

Posted by bounddragon on 9th May 2007

John 17:22 The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one

In this verse from Jesus’ high priestly prayer, he prays saying that he gave us the glory that had been given him so that we might be one just as he and the Father are one.  How exactly are he and the Father one and what on God’s creation does that have to do with government and Iraq?First, he and the Father are one in a way that emphasizes both unity and diversity.

The Westminster Shorter Catechism sums up both well:

Q. 5. Are there more Gods than one?
A. There is but one only, the living and true God.

and,

Q. 6. How many persons are there in the Godhead?
A. There are three persons in the Godhead: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost; and these three are one God, the same in substance, equal in power and glory.

There is but one God–complete unity; however, he is three persons (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost)–who are diverse one from the other.  This doctrine, as hard as it may be for us to wrap our minds around, plays an immense role in our lives practically–in ways we are far from understanding.  If God’s being only emphasized unity (your strictly monotheistic Allah of Islam) you have no foundation for love (for whom did God love before he created?), and you have no foundation for communion or fellowship (with whom did he fellowship?)  If God’s being only emphasized diversity (your pagan polytheism) you have no foundation for unity, no way to grasp corporate relationships (such as marriage and family, church, etc.)  Although, you will see these things to some degree in these other faiths (this is because all men are created in the image of the Triune God), they falter because man becomes like his god.

Now how do government and Iraq play into this?  Well, first off, our government has three branches (Legislative, Executive, and Judiciary) because the Founding Fathers mimicked it after the trinitarian nature of God.  Further, our republican form of government follows suit in that it celebrates diversity in the use of a democratic vote at the local level, yet celebrates unity by use of representatives at the higher levels.

Now what happens when you try to impose a democratic (diversity emphasized) form of government on a people whose natures have been conformed to the image of their strictly monotheistic (unity-only emphasis) god, i.e. Allah?  This is what is happening now.  President Bush is sending American troops to die in the Middle East so that we can introduce democracy to the rest of the world.  Yet, democracy cannot and will not succeed in a land where the people fail to comprehend the role of diversity in society.  President Bush’s plan to bring peace through representative government has failed and will continue to fail until the people have had their nature changed to one that embraces both unity and diversity–and this can only come when they bend their knees and confess faith in the Trinitarian God of the Bible –the Lord Jesus Christ.
